Privacy Statement

DirectionRV together with its subsidiaries ("we", "us") has created this privacy statement (the "Statement") and is firmly committed to the protection of your privacy. This Statement sets out how we collect, use and secure the personal information of individuals using any website or mobile application owned by us (each, a "DirectionRV Service"). This Statement reflects the requirements of Canada's Federal and Provincial privacy legislation as well as our continuous commitment to protecting your personal information.

What is "Personal Information"?

Personal information is information about you that uniquely identifies you as an individual. Your name, address, e-mail address, or telephone number are all examples of personal information. However, the name, address and telephone number of an individual that appears in a telephone directory that is available to the public does not fall under the scope of personal information as it is publicly available information.

Collection of Personal Information

We do not automatically gather any personal information from users of DirectionRV Services. Personal information is only obtained online if you supply it voluntarily, usually through contacting us via e-mail, submitting reviews, or registering for services.

Data collected upon registration: Name, email address, and optionally your phone number. If you sign in via Google or Apple, we receive your name, email address and profile picture (Google only) from the authentication provider.

Location data: The mobile application uses your GPS location (foreground only, while the app is open) to display nearby campgrounds, restaurants and services. Your location is not sent to our servers — it is used locally on your device. Reverse geocoding (converting coordinates to city names) is performed via the OpenStreetMap Nominatim service.

Push notifications: If you allow notifications, a device identification token is stored on our servers via the Expo Push Notifications service in order to send you updates. This token is removed when you sign out.

User-submitted content: Reviews, comments, photos and listings you post are stored on our servers and may be visible to other users.

Crash Reports and Diagnostics

We use Sentry (sentry.io) to automatically collect crash reports and diagnostic data when the application encounters an error. This data may include:
  • Error stack traces and device information
  • Screenshots at the time of the error
  • Session data (usage duration, actions leading to the error)
This data is used solely to improve application stability and is subject to Sentry's privacy policy.

Use and Sharing of Personal Information

We will generally collect and use personal information to administer our services, to understand our customers' responses, needs and preferences, and to generally manage our business.

We do not sell your personal information. Personal information may be shared with our agents or contractors in connection with services that they perform for us (see Third-Party Services above).

On-Device Storage

The mobile application stores the following data on your device:
  • Authentication tokens — Stored securely (hardware-backed encryption when available) to keep your session active
  • Map cache — Points of interest data for offline access (up to 500 MB, 30-day retention)
  • Last known location — To display your approximate position on app startup
You can delete this data at any time via the app settings (Profile > Map Cache).

Account Deletion

You can request the deletion of your account and all your personal data from within the mobile app (Profile > Delete My Account) or by emailing [email protected]. Deletion is permanent and includes your profile, reviews, comments and associated data.

Your Consent

By using our services and providing us with your personal information, you consent to our collection, use and disclosure of that information as described in this Statement as amended from time to time.

Safeguards and Retention

We use physical, organizational and technological safeguards to protect your personal information against theft, loss or unauthorized access, use, modification, disclosure or disposal. Communications between the application and our servers are encrypted via HTTPS with SSL certificate pinning.

Terms of Use & Changes to this Statement

Your use of DirectionRV Services, and any disputes arising from it, is subject to this Statement and governed by our Terms of Service. We reserve the right to change and update the Policy and these changes will be made when appropriate, in a timely manner.
